Is that the Figs Hypersteer kit or whatever?

My car is about 100% street driven and with my unrealistic timeframes will continue to be that way probably forever, but i hate having to crank the wheel so far to get around roundabouts. Does this quicken up the steering response?

Thank you,
Mark

Yes it does quicken steering. The final version keeps the akerman too. It really makes the steering responsive, and with a more tame wheel/alignment setup its completly streetable.

Figs Steering rack Bushing.

comparisons of the old bushings and the new hotness

Unbolted the rack and pulled it away from the subframe. It cames off quite far

Then using a long bolt n nut pulled out the old bushing

]

Then i used a flat peice of metal and a grade 10 bolt to pull in the new bushing . You could pull it from the subframe side but i wanted to have the choice of changing spacers if i wanted.

and all installed

and pass side.

the urathane strip does squash out a bit but you know its in there good.

I was going to give it a drive but the batt was weak so driving impresions tomorow.

Got all new front end parts in finnally. New inner tie rods, New version Figs Quick steer ball joint and ProtoType Outer Tie rods.

The outer tie rods fit perfectly into the figs Quick steer and he currently has 3 spacers so you can get your tie rod angle as level as possible. I used one of the big spacers and it came out damn near flat.

The Tie rod does not have a kink in it like to OEM one but on full lock the prototype has over 10mm clearance to the rim. As soon as it stops raining i will be giving Fig detailed measurments to show how thick it can be in various spots. I basically have worst case scenarios because of my wheel setup. 17x9 35 offset.

One thing it does hit now is the shock bolt.

But this is actually best case scenario for me. On the prototype QS my Rim would touch the lower control arm. Now this is a hard spot on a hard spot that mive with each other and my wheel clears the control arm by about 3mm. PERFECT!!! Fig could easily shave a couble MM off this point of the knuckle with no sacrifice of strenth to get full lock. I dont think its needed though.

Impresions......HOLY MOTHER HUMPER YESS!!!!!!

the front end response it nothing short of AMAZING. I think the new steering turnng geometry is better and is so smooth and easy to catch its crazy. I caught what wa sure to be a spin this past weekend that i kbnow i wouldnt have gotten before.

The car is officially DONE!

now i just need a little more power....

It would be a little bit more than stock as the other hole in the pick is the stock engagement point. How do you measure that again?

The increase in akerman over the old design did not help my self center problem though I think between my offset, toe, camber and 5.5degree non adjustable caster im stuck. Only think i could do to further increase akerman now is to space off the rack but honestly it feels great so im not worried.

So these are that much of a departure from the first version of the quick steer units? Is the gen 2 worth it on a street driven car? Are you going to get the Figs diffuser?

IMO I think the second version might have a better akerman curve or something. I found it felt better. I did replace the inner tie rods but the old ones weren't bad at all. I like that the steering stop isn't my rim now so maybe there was just more confidence when i turned the wheel.

Is it worth the change to go V2 from a V1... No probably not on a street car.

I probably wont mess with the diffuser and i never see the speeds to need it...and I'm not a big fashionista
