Just wondering if anyone knows of any daughterboard or ROM flashing options for a OBDI MR2 Turbo. Nissans and Hondas have so many options but I couldn't find any for a MR2. Only standalones and piggybacks.

The only daughterboard option is through ATS racing. It is not end-user tunable. Your best budget option is either the Greddy E-Manage Ultimate or the AEM F-IC. The Apex Power FC is the best budget standalone as it gets rid of the damned AFM and is pretty much bolt-on. |

What is your budget? I'm sure you can put together a PnP with the AEM EMS4 for just over $1000 . I'm sure it will be a lot better then any prom flash. EB Turbo |

Thanks for the replies. Guess I'll have to look into PFC and AEM then. Most likely whichever the tuners here in HI are most comfortable with. Unless anyone wants to take a vacation down here? |

Megasquirt The only thing it has going for itself is the price. Poor resolution, hardly any advanced features. If you have the money for the AEM don't even look at the Megasquirt. EB Turbo |

Well, he asked for an affordable solution. As for lack of advanced features, have you looked at what people have been doing with MS lately? |

What have they been doing? You also need to look at the price once you add all the details up. MS III kit $365 or $550 assembled. Flying lead $78, dauter kit $200, expansion kit $90, simulator to make sure it works once you've assembled it $95, relay kit $95. Now you need a trigger wheel, sensors a bunch of "mod" kits to make your application work. You are spending more then the EMS 4 and flying lead kit. And the everyday Joe who wants to do this probably doesn't have the skills or knowledge to do so. When they get stuck where do they go for support, the forums? I wouldn't be happy with that. I'm not a fan of the AEM stand alone for the MR2. There have been lots of reports of issues with the computer, plus you can't retain cruise or power steering. |

Then run the standalone of your choice in a parallel. You can even do it to the PnP EMS. They usually work very well and is a way better solution then piggybacks. EB Turbo |

This might be an option for you: http://www.berktechnology.com/shop/...p;P_ID=504 It's a patch cable that allows conversion from the Gen2 ECU to using a Gen3 ECU which is already calibrated for larger injectors and is more tuning friendly I believe. |

I've seen two-step rev limiters, multiple injection banks, and even antilag done wtih a MS system. But you're right; it requires a bit of electrical engineering knowledge to pull off. |

The ECU in the Gen 3 isn't tunable either. That cable allows you to directly plug in a Power FC. |
