Castillo's all the way!!! very few machine shops will actually even take the job, let alone admit they are 100% confident of what they are doing. When I shopped around to have mine done I only found 3 or 4 "reputable" shops within a 100 mile radius in SoCal that would do it and 2 of those outsourced the work to another shop. Its not as easy as it sounds, so even if it costs you a little more; you can rest assured Castillo will do a perfect job. |

I've been putting off calling them so I can send the crank. Trying to figure if I should cryo treat before I send it. Kinda have mixed feelings, I'm thinking I should. The number for them that I've been finding is good right? Gonna ship this thing from the East coast. |

Castillo's Crankshaft
1465 1/2 Firestone Blvd.
La Mirada, Ca. 90638
(714) 523-0321
Is this the contact info you came up with? It's about all I could find after a quick internet search and you didn't post what contact info you do have. You may want to call them first thing when you get up because you lose three hours calling from the East coast to the West. |

Whoops, meant to say you may NOT, want to call them first thing... One little word can make so much of a difference. I could go back and edit my post but now that you've replied that would just be goofy. From what I understand they do start work fairly early though, just not THAT early. |

I don't have any problems with Castillo's service either, but I have heard of people waiting a log ass time for their shit. Remember: the squeaky wheel gets the grease. |

I have seen their work and they do a nice job. However a friend of mine in Lakewood waited over a year to get two four cylinder cranks back from them. I think they treat the big shops and higher profile customers a bit better than a guy off the street, that's all. At least as far as priority goes. |

I'm willing to bet Mike and Eric probably get preferential treatment.
I've got 2 customer's/friends motor builds in limbo. |

really no need. Nissan factory cranks aren't going to break, they just aren't the weak link. If you cut the journals down through the heat treat, then induction harden the journals. If you aren't welding on it or making huge changes I don't think you need to normalize the metal. Just my opinion.
