I am having difficulty finding an overbore (81-81.5mm bore MLS performance headgasket) for QG18DE. The stock bore is 80mm. Does anyone have any leads for Felpro Permatorque or Ajusa. IPP (Import Performance Parts) no longer carry Ajusa. Does anyone have leads?

You would be way better off swaping an SR20 into your car rather than trying to build a QG18.

Errr.. Its a bit too late. Conrods are being made as I type this and likewise pistons. I have also procurred another QG18 engine. Apart from the lack of parts what would be the deficiency of building a QG18? SR20s are not found in Sentras in my country and was never even found in any Nissan cars sold here. This means most SRs are longitudinal in nature with only the SR20 from the RNN14 Pulsar GTiR being transverse. Either way its tough with SR20 or QG18 but I kinda like the challenge to do an engine no one else does.

Forgot to mention the QG will be turbocharged. Turbo is already sitting on my desk (BorgWarner EFR6258).

No aftermarket support of any kind for one. No interest by anyone as another. You would basicaly be on your own except if you had general questions.

Am aware of this problem from the start. Guess this is what motivates me to do up the QG. Was worried that you were pointing to a major showstopper flaw within the QG engine itself that I overlooked. Phew..

In my country Sentras for one are typically targeted for errmm the more mature population hence there is already very minimal aftermarket performance parts beyond the typical rice category stuff. There are no SE-Rs, no Spec-Vs. Heck we don't even get the RS5F70A manual transaxle..

I think the stock headgasket probably isn't too bad if you keep the boost down below 15 lbs or so.

contact Uprev for the ecu. I'm almost certain the QG cars use the "newer style" ecu and they can pull the rom and flash it

ECU is expected to be Autronic SM-4 (1st Choice) and Haltech Platinum Sport(2nd choice) as my engine builder is pretty familiar with mapping either and is also the distributor. We do not have knowledge or support for Uprev in my country (Malaysia) unfortunately. At least from what I know. With the forged steel H-beam conrod (K1 Technologies) , Ross Pistons + nitrided crank boost will be in excess of 1 bar (15 psi) hence reason I'm looking for a better headgasket.

Mike, I am being told that stock Nissan head gasket only comes in stock bore. Is that true?

Cool!  Does this mean you can move on with assembly of the engine now?

Mod the gasket. I used a AJ-USA MLS head gasket on my overbored QR. 90.2mm. I separated the three layers, gasket matched the top and bottom to the cylinders, Then put the middle layer back in and cleaned that up, then I used the middle layer of a used MLS head gasket and made compression rings for the cylinders. I puth them all back together with head gasket glueand the controversal part , coppered it all. It seems to be working well after a year of 15 psi.

It's work/PIA, but it can be done.

So now that you've got the rods is it time to start assembly?
