Fast Lap with Billy Johnson - Circuit Of The Americas
By Billy Johnson Circuit Of The Americas (COTA for short) is America's first purpose-built Formula 1 track which stands at 3.427 miles long. The track is characterized by a lot of elevation change and with 20 diverse and technical turns, it's a formula for great racing and a really difficult but fun track to drive. Located in Austin, TX the track was designed with the assistance of Hermann Tilke, who is responsible for designing most of the modern F1 circuits. Proposed in the middle of 2010, COTA was completed in time for the November 18, 2012 Formula 1 race which I was fortunate enough to attend. The track will host everything from MotoGP to Australian V8 Supercars and the world's top Road Racing series. It's exciting to finally have a modern European-style circuit here in the States with a similar track specification, layout, curbing, and run-offs. Rather than the tight, narrow, and bumpy tracks that characterize North American racing circuits.

Driver Blog: Ryan Eversley
Welcome to my first blog for MotoIQ! This also could be my last blog for MotoIQ so let's at least make it memorable shall we? First off I promised my twitter followers that I would sneak five crazy words that they chose into the blog, so if you see anything that doesn't make sense just go with it. Second, I hate reading the same crap over and over again from everyone about how their race weekend went so I'll try and keep it light hearted but more importantly as real as possible.
Detailing 111: Wax Tech
by Connor Harrison
To many people, waxing is an annual hassle and the benefit is only temporarily appreciated. It is treated as something that isn’t really necessary, and only needs to be done if we’re getting spiffy for a night out on the town. Waxing once a year is simply not often enough (don’t believe what you see on TV)! Your car is under attack every time you drive it; all the dirt, tar, bug guts, bird poop, hard water, and acid rain work to degrade the finish of your vehicle. Your wax is your protection from these environmental offenders, and it wears away much sooner than you might think.
Story by Eric Hsu, Photos by Jeff Naeyaert and Josh Coote at MCA Suspension
The MCA S13 finished in 3rd place overall at the 2012 World Time Attack Challenge which is pretty amazing considering it's rear wheel drive. That's no simple feat in an event dominated by all wheel drive cars, big budgets, and world famous JDM tuners. What got the MCA S13 there was a great build by Murray and Josh Coote and their crew of friends with attention to detail exactly where it was needed. Of course great driving by ex-A1 GP Kiwi driving ace, Earl Bamber, doesn't hurt either. You've seen how crazy this thing looks and you've heard how fast it is. Now come and check out what's underneath the skin of the MCA S13 as I walk you through the car in detail. Best of all, IT DOESN'T HAVE AN LS ENGINE IN IT!
Driver Blog: Randy Pobst - PRI and the Track Drug
by Randy Pobst
Ed: Randy Pobst is a ten-time road-racing champion with over 70 professional wins. He’s also a friend of MotoIQ. When we bumped into Randy at the 2012 Performance Racing Industry Show last month we asked if he’d be willing to share some of his speed secrets in one of our driver’s blogs. And did he ever deliver. Sit back and read about what The Rocket has to say. It will do you good.
It's just another day in a gearhead's paradise as MotoIQ propels down the Autobahn in Germany, Salzburg, and the Czech Republic, then tours the immaculate BMW Museum outside Munich. Find out what driving is like behind the former Iron Curtain.
RIP John Noveske - Noveske Rifleworks AR15
By Mike Kojima
A few days ago, this week, John Noveske, founder and owner of Noveske Rifleworks was killed in a tragic car accident near his Grants Pass Oregon home. In honor of John's memory we thought we would feature one of his creations. Noveske Rifleworks is known as the producers of some of the highest quality AR15 pattern rifles in the country.
Don't worry we won't be turning MotoIQ into Guns and Ammo online but since our previous story on our Ruger 1022 was so well received and we had requests for more stories on bigger stuff, here we are. We would also like to show that a California Compliant AR15 is not an "Assault Rifle" that is popular to vilify in the media nowadays but a really good overall rifle that does well on the range target shooting, in other sporting contests like 3 gun matches, hunting and for home defense although its capability is limited in this respect to comply with state law.

The external combustion anti-lag "rocket" combustor was used on the factory Prodrive built WRC STi Subaru cars to improve the EJ20 engine's inherent mediocre torque and engine response. The rocket is so good that a version of it is still in use today in the 2012 Japanese Super GT GT300 STi BRZ which also uses an EJ20. Last time I wrote a teaser article, but this time we'll take a look at some of the details of the rocket combustor anti-lag system as it applies to my buddy Ben's JDM Impreza STi Spec C street car over in the UK.

Unless you've been living under a Time Attack rock, there's no doubt you've heard of the amazing NEMO Racing EVO. At the recent 2012 World Time Attack Challenge in Sydney, Australia, the NEMO EVO piloted by Aussie V8 Supercars driver Warren Luff, did it's best lap time of 1:25.020 which effectively destroyed the CyberEVO's record lap time of 1:28.851. That's 3.831 seconds faster than what was previously the fastest Time Attack car in the world. After the jump I break down exactly why this beautifully constructed EVO is the fastest Time Attack car in the world.
