Cusco EVO Twin Disc Clutch

Project EVO VIII part 4, Getting More Trackside Grip, Killing Some Slip

By Mike Kojima

After enjoying driving our much-improved EVO VIII for a few months we were again motivated into another round of mods by the need to fix a necessity, a slipping clutch.  We also wanted to improve our suspension for more aggressive driving.

Project EVO VIII part 3, Into the Engine, Basic Bolt Ons

By Mike Kojima

In part one, we made the conversion of our car from a HIN show car to a more performance oriented build.  In part two of our series we tackled the difficult task of squeezing more stick and balance in the corners of an already finely tuned cornering machine without reducing its refinement as a daily driver. We also improved the stamina of its already powerful brakes in anticipation of hard track use and more power from the motor. In part two we will attempt to squeeze more power out of the EVO’s tried and true 4G63 engine

Project EVO VIII Part Two, Improving Braking and Handling

By Mike Kojima

At MotoIQ headquarters, it’s no secret that we love the EVO VIII.  To us it’s one of the best-balanced all around car we have ever driven for any price.  It has reasonable power with tons of upgrade potential for its well developed bulletproof 4G63 engine.  The killer engine is one thing but the best thing about the EVO is its handling.  The EVO just flat out rocks, there are very few cars that are so easy to drive hard at the limit.

motoIQ Tech Exclusive! Paintless Dent Repair

If you are into cars, it’s inevitable that your nice shiny new ride will accumulate its share of ugly and annoying dents and dings no matter how careful you are when parking.  Even the stored garage queen is not immune to this sort of damage.  Some of you have kids, some have crowded garages full of stuff that falls over.  Some of you have spouses or SO’s that think your obsession with cars is dumb and park the car any old where when you are not around.

Project Mitsubishi EVO VIII: Getting Rid of the Bling to Give it Some Sting

From the second we first drove an EVO VI on loan from Mitsubishi 8 years ago, we have been in love with the EVO series of cars.  The small relatively light 4-Door sedan reminded us of another favorite car.  It was lot like a super tuned Turbo Sentra SE-R but with it's 4WD drivetrain, it could actually put the power to the ground at high boost.  Unfortunately the EVO was not available for sale in the USA.
