Electronic Cigarettes

by Eric Hsu

I am checking out SiGCiG.com's Encore electronic cigarette as a method to reduce smoking. Smoking without the cigarette smoke is pretty cool actually.

Ken Block to Race WRC?

By Eric Hsu

For those of you who are Ken Block fans, you might be interested to know that he is near to closing a deal to drive 2009 spec WRC Ford Focuses. If all works out, the deal should be finalized next month. Block's team mate will be the ex-SWRT (Subaru World Rally Team) driver Chris Atkinson.

Tuning, Life, Beef Ribs and Remodeling

A couple months ago when Ben and Roland from Pi were visiting from the UK, we were having dinner somewhere and this conversation came up about tuning. I think we all ordered big ass beef BBQ ribs at Lucille's that night. Ben finished the ENTIRE full rack. Believe it or not, they don't have big ass tender tasty meaty beef ribs in the UK. They do have the best Guinness in the world, but that still doesn't quite make up for the missing beef ribs. Anyhow, as I remember the conversation it went a little something like this (in full on English accents except for me):

Crazy Week and Time Killers

This week is CRAZY busy. Daytime is Cosworth and we're cranking at 125% right now trying to finish up the multitude of projects that we have going on. In the evenings it is time attack help. Lucky for me I am not actively campaigning a time attack car so I am not ultimately responsible for entire cars. I get to play free agent so I can finish my work and gtfo. I remember the days of trying to run a shop and then having to get a race car ready: IT SUCKED.

I used to be able to handle it just fine when one day of recovery was all it took and I was good to go the next day. Now I'm on the 4th day of recovery and I'm still hurting. Jet lag recovery is directly proportional to hangovers recovery time vs. age apparently.

I've enabled comments for now. I'll try it out for a while. I realize that I post a lot of things that people may not agree with since there's a whole generation of SPEs (forum bred self proclaimed engineers) and FFFs out there now. Fuck them (or you if you're an [Read the rest of this article...]

Happy New Year 2009!

Happy new year everybody. My goal before the new year, aside from completing the MX-5 calibration work (see below), was to get this new and improved blog up and running. With some help from Aric and the gigantic knowledge base we call the web, I was able to get this up and running today with the exception of the links you see on the top of this column and below the header. The evil scripts, adware, and bots that have infested the JDM Insider site are no longer lurking on this blog. BTW, this blog's new web address is: http://www.beyondthedyno.com/Blogs/Eric. Pleas...
