MFEST V "The Ultimatum" Las Vegas April 22 - 24

MFEST is a journey all BMW ///M owners should take at least once in their life. People travel from all over the country to participate in this spectacular event that goes down every year in Sin City. MFEST is not only an event to showcase your M, it is a trifecta of events that encompasses several acts of car related hedonism. The weekend starts in SoCal with a single file caravan all the way to Las Vegas for some Friday night drag racing. Saturday is the car show and track day held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The track day also gives shops and manufacturers the opportunity to compete in a Time Attack style MFest Tuner Shootout. MFEST concludes with the ultimate lifestyle party at TAO Beach at the Venetian Hotel. This was our first trip behind the MFEST curtain and organizer Chris Naguit has proven once again that he is the man with the masterplan!
The MotoIQ crew headed out to the track day held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to bring you some coverage of the more performance minded aspect of the event.
|Jeff Westphal is no stranger to Time Attack racing and is seen here piloting Paul Walker's AE Performance/Gintani Supercharged M3 on Hankook tires. Paul Walker is busy promoting Fast Five and couldn't make it to this event but Jeff made the most of his absence and took 1st place in the MFEST Tuner Shootout competition.
|While the Berk Technology BMW 135i isn't technically an M car driver Mike Bonanni was able to pass the 700hp HPF car during the MFEST Tuner Shoot session. The Berk car was no match for the HPF car on the straights though, that bright orange beast is FAST!
|The widebody E46 M3 from HPF is rumored to be making 700HP to the wheels using their own staged turbocharger kit. The M3 is show car quality but is also able to walk the walk when it comes to either dragstrip or road course racing.
|This E90 M3 Sedan showed up with a set of Continental Grand Am Slicks! Where'd ya get those from?

haledj - I was at the event and I didn't see very many E30, E36 M3's out at the event. For the track day portion I don't think I saw a single older M3 out on track. The only guys that were out racing were E46 & up.
mxpop - They were running a different config compared to the RTA setup. FTD was Jeff Westphal in Paul Walker's M3. 1:58.xxx.

Laura i didnt make it out to the first Redline this year because my timing belt tensioner was grinding. I was working with Larry Chen at Formula D when you guys were in AZ. Ill be at GTA and RTA this month. Im gonna be back and forth between courses in July for RTA and All Star Bash drift. Im still footing my own bill, so im trying to fit all these trips into my budget :D
