Nerd Vacation - The Nissan Engine Museum

Datsun 510: Are You Sure?

John Paul’s 510 was not running. Sitting for a dozen years it actually was in the way more than once, and was sometimes moved with less attention to its history than it deserved. It was not forgotten; but it was derelict and at risk of sitting forever. It came with a 1.8 L series engine that was used in vintage endurance racing. Initially considering keeping the blood lines in the family a CA18DET was thought about. Then a KA24DE engine was considered - it was even placed into the engine bay. So was a built SR20VE drivetrain. Purchases were made and plans were in place, but then J-P tossed them all out and moved to a 9000 RPM AP1 Honda S2000 engine. It is not the first time that an S2000 engine has been transplanted into a Datsun 510. But no other 1973 Datsun 510 comes with the history that this two door model contains.

Z Fest: Datsun Eye Candy

170 cars have stationed themselves on the pavement beside the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum near Hamilton, Ontario. This was the Twentieth year that Ontario Z-Car Owner’s Association has held this event and it was fantastic. Z cars were everywhere - from the iconic Datsun 240Z through to the Nissan 370Z. Toss in a GTR, mix in a bunch of 240SXs and a few Infiniti G35s and then add a few historic Datsuns - all within eyesight and reach of a wide range of warplanes and you have a great afternoon of viewing. The cars were amazing.

Mike Kojima Inspired Datsun S30

When you fall in love with a car sometimes it doesn’t matter how long or how much money it takes to achieve your goal.  Every editor at MotoIQ has been down that path in some form or another and it turns out our fans are pretty smitten also.  On the other side of the globe, Nino Karotta from Budapest and the team at PWRacing in Hungary are building a stunning 1974 260Z.  Nino plans on using the car for drifing, time attack and what he calls “generic” recreational activities.
