Project Sim Racer: Part 3 - Enhancing the Experience With Fanatec

After spending a good number of hours behind the Logitech G920 controls on our GT-R Simulator GTA-F cockpit, we wanted to see if we could enhance our experience. Project Sim Racer: Part 2 - Let's Go Racing!

When we left Project Sim Racer in Part 1, we had just finished constructing our cockpit and outfitting it with controls from Logitech. Now it is time to get to gaming! I mean driving! I mean driving in the games! OK, whatever!

In this segment we will evaluate two extremely popular simulators: iRacing and rFactor 2. If I had to choose between these two titles, I would have a very, very tough time. They both are excellent, both have their advantages, and both have their disadvantages. It really depends on what you’re after. Read on and make your own decision.

Project Sim Racer: Part 1 - Building the Rig

Today’s racing simulators are far from arcade games. They are extremely accurate representations of real world physics that can be paired with realistic controls to drive on real-world circuits that have been scanned with lasers, lidar and other cutting-edge technology- all in an effort to provide an extremely faithful representation of the real world. Even 2- and 3-dimensional motion simulators are “affordable”, depending on your budget.

So what does it take to get started, and where can you go for a reasonable sum? We decided to find out.

Project Trailer-All Done and Using It!

We have gotten a few emails asking about the status of Project Trailer and to be honest we had kinda forgotten to write about it in the mad rush that life in our world is about.  The truth is that our trailer works quite well and that we are pretty happy about going with a custom trailer built to our specs by Shadow Trailers in Cypress California.
