Project GMC Canyon: Introduction and Icon Stage V Suspension

I can't tell you how long I've dreamed of owning a mid-size pickup with a small diesel engine and 4WD. Living in Southern California, we are surrounded by plenty of great desert trails to explore. Another wonderful thing about living in Southern California is that our fuel taxes are high AF! Seriously, the taxes on fuel just went up again, and there is just no way I could justify having one of our two family vehicles be a complete gas guzzler. Enter the new 2.8 liter Duramax 4 cylinder diesel engine. This thing is a real gem when it comes to efficiency. The GMC Canyon Diesel is the highest rated MPG truck on the market. Period. No time is wasted with this project truck, and we install Icon Stage V suspension in this series. Read more to find out what we think!

Project Golf R MKVII: Finding More Power with COBB Accessport

In our last update on on this project, we started preparing for power modifications by installing a Fluidampr crankshaft pulley. That modification went much better than expected with the car picking up a few horsepower in the process. Despite that small bump in power from the pulley install, having near stock power levels on the Golf R all this time has definitely become a little bit boring, especially knowing the potential of the hardware under the hood. We have been waiting patiently for COBB to release their Accesstuner for the Golf R, and they have finally delivered. The Accessport tuner and hard parts are now available for the MKVII Golf R, and we are going to test out the gains on our Project Golf R.

Project Golf R MKVII: Fluidampr Test

The Golf R is back for another round of modifications. Now that we have addressed the suspension and feel the car is handling the way we want it, it is time to move on to the powertrain. We are not entirely sure which direction the powertrain modifications will ultimately go, but the best place to start is by making sure our foundation is solid. In this article, we are going to be installing the Fluidampr crankshaft pulley, as well as doing some baseline Dyno testing on Project Golf R.
