WATCH: Project C7 Corvette Stingray Z51 Baseline Track Test

So, you read the Part 1 of our introduction to Project C7 Corvette Stingray and probably watched Mike Kojima give us all of the engineering explanations under the chassis. You even read the in-depth breakdown of the LT1 engine. All of this information is great, however, what does it mean for the performance on a racetrack?

We gave our test driver, Karla Pestotnik, a few hot laps to give us some insight and a baseline lap time before we add any performance upgrades in 100% stock form. We hit the tarmac with our friends at Global Time Attack at a Buttonwillow Raceway 13 CW (clockwise) configuration time attack event.

Our Corvette is a 7-speed manual transmission with the Z51 Performance Package from the factory. This test will allow us to find out how much faster our future upgrades will make the car go around Buttonwillow Raceway’s 13CW configuration. We have almost the entire Chevrolet Performance Parts Catalog's offerings for the C7 Stingray waiting to go on our Stingray with only 4,000 miles on the odometer!

@warmmilk Do it!! They're really impressive on track. I want to see what it's like without any traction control. :-P

I'm trying to be responsible and not waste money... haha

I know a 305 NT01 isn't enough to hold the power coming out of corners without tracking control :D

Considering how exotic the car is in materials and technology, its a bargain.

GM really got this gen Vette right. I didn't like the C6, but the C7 is a whole different level of performance.

That wrap stuff is cool for those who care about the front of their car.
