There was something for everyone at Leavitt Machinery's Knox Mountain Hill Climb that recently took place in Kelowna, B.C. The spectacular views of Okanagan Lake surrounded by mountains truly set the scene for this event. The cars ranged from open wheel through fully caged track cars to street prepared and then vintage. These cars ranged from obviously well-used track toys to vehicles that looked like they would be more at home at a show and shine placement. Make no mistake, the drivers were all here for one thing: to find their personal best and, just maybe, become the King of the Hill!

Starting off with the vintage class, we have Geoff Tupholme in his blistering fast Austin Mini 1275 wearing #441. He piloted this tiny beast to a time of 2:04.135, which is absolutely fantastic. Geoff set my mind at ease by describing driving his FWD beast up the track as being akin to “wrestling a bear in a phone booth”!

Second place in Vintage was Jorgen Krause who piloted his Volvo 240, #601, up the mountain in a time of 2:05.613. This was a fantastic time for a car that has considerably more heft than the Mini! Third place went to Bob Buido in his#169 Ford Mustang with a time of 2:10.446.

Moving to Street Prepared classes, in SP-1 Aaron Schmidt ran up the mountain in his #89 red Honda Civic with a time of 2:07.879.

In second place was Josh Manalo in his red Miata wearing #186 with a time of 2:13.458. Coming in third was Aran Cook in the #25 silver Miata with a time of 2:16.612
