Celebration of Motorsport

Celebration of Motorsport is the CASC-OR's final race of the season. It was held at the beautiful Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (formerly known as Mosport) just a short drive North-East of Toronto on September 27 and 28, 2014. The weather was in the mid-twenties Celcius (mid-seventies for those of you used to Fahrenheit) and the 3.957 kilometre long track (2.459 miles) was perfect. Sunshine with barely a cloud in the sky. The kind of weather that you long for when you are camping – which I was – and that you dream for if you are racing.

Wow! This car is absolutely impressive and I loved seeing it out on the track. I can only imagine what it must be like throwing it around the corners! Unfortunately, I didn't see this 1962 Ford Galaxie out much during the weekend. It's raced by David Strachan.

CASC-OR is the official sanctioning body of motorsports in Ontario. From Autoslalom to Time Attack to Ice Racing to Road Racing, CASC-OR has a place for you to race. It is an absolutely marvellous way to spend a weekend, as there are a wide range of vehicles and classes. From amazing vintage racers to F1200s to Grand Touring cars to Formula Libre racers. It simply has it all!

The F1200s are so equally matched as they fly around the track. During Sunday's race the top 8 cars were all lapping within less than a second of each other. Nose to tail, these drivers didn't have mechanical advantage. It was driver's skill. The F1200 Driver's Association keeps this crew focused and on track.
The livery of Kevin Kapelke's car is a stand out. While I've only met Kevin once, I've been following his race career for a while. I meet his dad annually to get one or another of my vehicles' E-tested. Kevin placed first in both F1200 races on Saturday and third on Sunday! Michael Iamundi was top of the podium in the third race (on Sunday) and Phil Wang won the fourth race.
The Pace Car leads the G70+ pack through Moss Corner (Turn 5) with Turn 4 in the background. The leaves have just started showing some Autumn colours – providing a beautiful background.
My friend, Darren Scott, has taken the outside line in the white #5 truck as he's seeking to make up some places. In this pack he's the only driver that I knew, so I was absolutely cheering him on!
