Nissan had a tour planned to show the car all over Los Angeles starting off on a Friday evening on Abbot Kinney. Following the evening on Abbot Kinney was Cars and Coffee in Irvine nice and early in the morning. After Cars and Coffee, the car was taken to the Peterson Automotive Museum. Finally, the car was to make an appearance at Super Car Sunday. If you map out the locations, that’s a whole lot of driving.

With my extremely limited knowledge of photography, I figured the best time to take pictures of the car would be in the early morning with the sun just coming up. So, I set the alarm for 4:30am to get to C&C around 6am to try to beat the rush of people to take pictures of the car. Well, my plan was foiled as the car showed up late. The night before on Abbot Kinney, the car was located in the parking lot of the bar where a MIQ member bartends. Hmm….. possible cause and effect?

While I had time to kill before the IDx arrived, I spotted this Datsun 510.
Datsun 510Yup, it has a roll bar in the back half.
Do you think the IDx maybe took some design cues from the 510? I think so… just a few. The car was trailered to Cars and Coffee but it does drive under its own power just fine. As proof, you can see the steam coming out of the exhaust. Yup, this show car actually works.
Pulling in right behind the IDx Nismo was the IDx Freeflow. Maybe it’s the color, but I’m not really feeling the Freeflow.
The Nismo however, this thing has presence! It looks much better in person than in the pictures.
