LA is all about car culture.  I’m sure everyone has heard about Cars & Coffee, but there are dozens if not hundreds of other car gatherings.  Ruby’s in Redondo Beach holds a classic car show every Friday afternoon.  Some friends and I were going to hit up a happy hour near it, so we figured we’d check out the car show.  I’m glad we did as there were some pretty amazing vehicles there of a great variety.  Enjoy the pictures!  (Sorry they are of the crappy cell phone variety…. my bad)

Here are a couple of cars as old as your grandparents.  Of particular interest is the black one…

This is a Franklin Twelve from around 1932-1934.  What makes it awesome?  How about an air cooled and supercharged, 6.5L V12!  Franklin’s air cooled engines were basically aircraft engines and this particular model put out 150hp.  Only about 200 of this model car were ever made before the H. H. Franklin Manufacturing Company went bankrupt during the Great Depression.

Check out the engine bay vents!  The owner cranked up the V12 and it was very smooth and quiet.  It was pretty amazing.
A Jag XK150, Porsche Speedster, and a matte black El Camino?  Only in LA.

Check out the horizontal tranny shifter in the middle of the dash of the Jag.
