How did we know we were finally getting close to Le Mans? Morgans, that's how. When you see 7 of those whatchamacalit modern, BMW-powered Morgans in a land of Schitroens, you know you're getting close. Never having had any reason to give two shits about a Morgan, though, what you don't know what that steampunk-looking split-window Morgan coupe thing is called. Hell, we didn't seem to remember what any of the goofy euro garage queens peppering the streets and parking lots of Le Mans were called, we just knew they were awesome.

So here's the challenge: First person to accurately name all 24 of these cars gets some of those genius points that makes people on the forums think you're smart and junk. Format it like this:

1: Pazoozie GT69

2: Renault Concubine

3: Wartburg Condyloma

4: etc., etc.

24 best cars of 24 hours of Le Mans

Ok, technically this was spotted in Monaco, but it was on the way to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, so we're gonna count it.

24 best cars of the 24 Hours of Le Mans

I don't know what this car is supposed to be capable of, but based on the limited accomodations for cooling airflow, I'm gonna bet it can't do anything for very long.

24 best cars of 24 hours of Le Mans

Also not technically spotted at Le Mans, but it was spotted on a day when we at least attempted to go to Le Mans.

24 best cars of the 24 Hours of Le Mans

This one really had us baffled at the time. Enough so that we spent more camera time with this thing than we did with the spectacular cathedral behind it.

24 best cars of the 24 Hours of Le Mans

The car was completely badgeless, but its not clear if it had been debadged, or of they were originally naked. Though the body was clearly fiberglass, the extensive use of plastics in the interior suggested it was not a kit car.

24 best cars of the 24 Hours of Le Mans

This is the feature that clearly made the answer Googleable. But just because we finally figured it out doesn't mean we're gonna let you off without a search of your own.

24 best cars of 24 hours of Le Mans

There were literally more Astons at Le Mans than Hondas and Toyotas combined.

Somehow when you're actually at Le Mans, the blue and orange Gulf livery doesn't seem contrived at all.

Not just any crappy C4, the best crappy C4 ever made. You have to respect the twisted devotion it must require to own one of these in Europe.

@ Tony: you're missing the production year for each one of them :)

I'm not even gonna try to attempt and guess certain cars. I recognize most of them as I grew up in Europe.
if you wanna know the years of some of them, there's google ;)

I think Joel wins :)

Props to those who can name which TV show or movie car numbers 4,11,12&16 have made splashes in? I'll give the hint that #11 was featured in a race in a show's first season this last year!

Dang it, Dave, you just reminded me how much I want an Alfa Romeo Brera.

Hmm, well Top Gear America had both the Raptor and V8 Vantage. The older Vantage was in the James Bond movie "The Living Daylights." There were far too many Skylines in the F&F movies.

And the split window Morgan is the Aeromax 8. And the reason you should care about Morgans is because they still build their cars out of friggin wood. WOOD!!! And because Porsche owners will literally trade cars with you. Happened to my pops once at a light. We still have the Mog.

Beaters - Nice catch! I really didn't know who would've caught "The Living Daylights". Now, if memory serves me, a white C4 Corvette made appearances in both The A-Team and Miami Vice. TV shows of course :)

I love James Bond. He also drove the DB5 in Goldfinger, Goldeneye, Die Another Day, and another movie or two that I don't remember off-hand. And yes, Faceman drove a C4 'Vette in the A-Team.

You want the alfas. They look good, but like all italian crap they make, expect them to be broken all the time. but still you want them, because they are beautiful.

But you really dont want the peugeot RCZ.

sure it looks nice. From outside. Take a look at a peugeot 308. That is what it is underneath. I was really hoping peugeot would make that RCZ a nice car ... they just made a nice looking car from outside. too bad it just is a poor mans car inside. I mean, would you buy an audi TT with a traban inside cabin ?
