Our stock front brakes are your typical pedestrian single piston floating caliper with a rotor of moderate size.  They are OK for street use but not any sort of track or hard use.

Our G35 is a street machine for the most part so we felt that having the latest in extreme floating rotor gigantic brakes would be overkill.  We didn’t want the NVH of floating rotors or the potential noise of hardcore performance calipers and pads on our daily driver.  However we did need better brakes.  Although Project G35's brakes were adequate for pure street use, on the track, they quickly faded away after about 2 laps even at very moderate speeds while instructing students.

Our rear brakes are like the front brakes except that the rotor has in internal drum for the parking brake.  This makes upgrades more difficult.

For a low cost and highly streetable solution we decided to go with what the Nissan factory picked as a high performance option for the Track Package 350Z, a set of used Brembo calipers that we bought from a local Z owner who had recently upgraded his brakes.  The Brembos are 4 piston front and 2 piston rear with the proper piston sizes and proportioning for the G35's master cylinder.  Unlike Brembo's racing calipers, OEM calipers have anti rattle provisions and dust seals for a long street service life.
