AutoX’ing Steed: Gregg Biddlingmeier’s 1988 Ford Mustang

by Justin Banner

It’s not the first choice of those who go autocrossing or tracking, but when a Fox-body Mustang is set up right, it can make for a potent road racer. Gregg Biddlingmeier’s example is one of many he’s owned and shows what these Fords are capable of with some planning, fabrication, and execution.

ASN Canada FIA Canadian Autoslalom Championship

presented by Toyo Tires

by Frank Ewald

Pitt Meadows, B.C. was home to the ASN Canada FIA Canadian Autoslalom Championship presented by Toyo Tires on June 24th and 25th. Held at the expansive YPK Pitt Meadows Training Facility and hosted by the VCMC Motorsport Club, there was plenty of open space on this massive paved training ground for a huge course layout. And not just one, but four courses were run over the weekend. At the noon break on both Saturday and Sunday, the courses were changed slightly at the start line and finish box to allow the courses to be run in reverse. This gave the drivers a huge challenge and also kept them on their toes throughout the weekend. Further adding to the challenge, the four best scores for each driver were tallied up and that combined total led to the final score.

Project AP1 S2000: Installing Forbidden Side Diffusers

by Karla Pestotnik

Project AP1 S2000 has specific plans to be the ultimate, fun street car that can hold its own performance-wise, without losing its street-ability factor by turning into a full-blown racecar or track dedicated car. However, what is a good handling street car without its good looks? We clean up the S2000's rocker panels with a set of Forbidden USA's carbon fiber side diffusers.

Tested: Rally Ready Driving School!

by Khiem Dinh

I started watching WRC around fifteen years ago and more recently rally cross, but I had never learned the skills required to drive a car in dirt. I’ve done drag racing, auto-x, road courses, motorcycle track days, and more recently supermoto. Heck, I have even gone mud bogging and driven dune buggies, but I haven’t gone sideways in dirt. It so happens our buddy Texas Dave has his Rally Ready driving school in my favorite city of Austin, Texas.

Event Coverage: 2017 Indianapolis 500 Presented by PennGrade Oil, Part 2

by Dave Zipf

We follow up after Dixon's mindblowing crash from Part 1 and continue to break down each wild scenario during the Indy 500. This was one of the wildest 500s we’ve seen in years.  It had everything: From huge crashes, to four-wide battles, mechanical intrigue, big name rookies and veterans, and a deserving dark horse winning in a shootout- racing really doesn’t get much better than it did at the 2017 Indianapolis 500.  It’s a great reminder, that there really is no place like Indy.

Global Time Attack Round 3: Willow Springs International Raceway

by David Kim

Big Willow at Willow Springs International Raceway is an unforgiving 2.5-mile road course that favors high powered vehicles and significantly rewards those with the finesse and confidence to push the limits of speed. Unsurprisingly though, this exhilarating track has claimed some of the finest engineered race vehicles throughout its creation since 1953. The first turn 1 and last turn 9 is unforgivingly quick to dish-out punishment for any driver error, and does not play nice with any chassis that is improperly setup for the high-speed corners. However, it is a challenging battlefield that is a favorite among many drivers that appeared at Global Time Attack’s 3rd Pro Am round of the 2017 season.

The Cars of Knox Mountain Hill Climb

by Frank Ewald

There was something for everyone at Leavitt Machinery's Knox Mountain Hill Climb that recently took place in Kelowna, B.C. The spectacular views of Okanagan Lake surrounded by mountains truly set the scene for this event. The cars ranged from open wheel through fully caged track cars to street prepared and then vintage. These cars ranged from obviously well-used track toys to vehicles that looked like they would be more at home at a show and shine placement. Make no mistake, the drivers were all here for one thing: to find their personal best and, just maybe, become the King of the Hill!

This is it, the west coast’s chance to show LS fans what it has to offer. This is the inaugural LS Fest West at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (LVMS). LVMS is a world class race compound with multiple tracks of all kinds and the perfect venue for what LS Fest has to offer. The LS Fest weekend gave us more than just drag racing and drifting, but also off-road, autocross, time trials and much more.

Event Coverage: 2017 Indianapolis 500 Presented by PennGrade Oil, Part 1

by David Zipf

There is no place like Indy.  It’s big, it’s fast, it’s narrow, and the track is like no other on earth.  Even in this modern, high tech world, winning Indy is one of the toughest tasks in motor racing today.  The cars may be much faster and more reliable, but winning Indy in 2017 is still just as tough as it was in 1911.
